Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Processing Community Day website at day.processing.org (the “Site”), operated by the Processing Foundation (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About the Site

Processing Community Day (PCD) is a worldwide, community-driven celebration of the Processing software, p5.js, and the broader creative-coding community. The Site provides a directory and map of independently organized PCD events and lets community members submit their own events for listing.

2. Eligibility

You may use the Site if you are able to form a binding agreement under applicable law. If you submit an event, you confirm that you are authorized to organize it and to share the information you provide.

3. Submitting an event

When you submit an event for listing, you agree that:

• The information you provide is accurate, lawful, and not misleading;
• You have the right to share it, including any names, contact details, venue information, and links;
• You have obtained consent from any co-organizers whose names or details you include;
• Your event and its content will comply with the Processing Foundation’s Code of Conduct and will be welcoming, inclusive, and free of discrimination, harassment, or unlawful activity.

Public submission. Event submissions are made through our public GitHub repository and/or the public Processing Discourse forum. Information you submit is public and will be displayed on the Site, including the primary contact email address. See our Privacy Policy for details on how this data is handled.

4. Content and licensing

• Your submissions. You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting, you grant the Processing Foundation a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on and in connection with the Site and PCD-related communications. You may request removal of your listing at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
• Our content. Except where otherwise noted, the Site’s original content, design, and code are made available by the Processing Foundation under the licenses stated in the project repository. Processing, p5.js, and related marks are the property of their respective owners.
• Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and provided via CARTO, subject to their respective licenses and attributions.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• Submit false, misleading, harmful, defamatory, or infringing content;
• Harvest, scrape, or misuse contact information (including organizer email addresses) for spam, marketing, or any purpose other than legitimately contacting an organizer about their event;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to, disrupt, or interfere with the Site or its underlying systems;
• Misrepresent your affiliation with the Processing Foundation or any event.

Organizer contact details are published solely to help attendees reach event organizers. Using them for bulk or automated messaging is prohibited.

6. Independent events and disclaimer

PCD events are organized independently by volunteers and third parties. The Processing Foundation does not organize, endorse, control, or assume responsibility for individual events, their content, their venues, or the conduct of their organizers or attendees. Listing an event on the Site does not constitute endorsement. Your attendance at, or dealings with, any event or organizer are solely between you and that organizer.

7. Third-party links and services

The Site contains links to third-party websites and services (including GitHub, the Discourse forum, event pages, and map providers). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party. Accessing third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that event information is complete or current.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Processing Foundation and its volunteers, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Site or your participation in any listed event. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Processing Foundation and its volunteers and contributors from any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of your submissions, your use of the Site, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the Processing Foundation’s place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection or data-protection laws of your country of residence apply.
